ARTIST STATEMENT
AN ARTIST STATEMENT
is supposed to describe what your work is about. This is very difficult for me at this point in my career. Everyday I learn something new, whether it's a new technique, different design or a better understanding of the material. My work continues to evolve as I do. I have been focusing on functional work because it is something that has a specific purpose. Through the works specific purpose you learn how to add or alter the work to make it more beautiful and/or functional. It is my desire to learn, that keeps my work moving forward and that is what my work is about.

different techniques to achieve the desired outcome. Everything I make starts on a potter's wheel and then is trimmed or altered by hand. Nothing is molded or jigged. At my studio I glaze fire in an electric kiln but I do occasionally use wood kilns, gas kilns, and pit fires.
